“Without education,” says Mary, “you won’t go far.” And in a
rural region of Malawi where less than 45 percent of women can read,
Mary has sent nine children—mostly daughters—to school. She saves money
for school fees through her HOPE savings group, and she appreciates the
opportunity to read God’s Word with others.
HOPE International
is a network of microfinance institutions and savings and credit
associations operating in 17 countries around the world. HOPE works to
empower men, women, and families to break the cycles of physical and
spiritual poverty through discipleship, biblically based business
training, savings services, and small loans. By incorporating a strong
witness for Jesus Christ and employing a variety of approaches, HOPE is
an innovator in the field of microenterprise development.
