Thursday 3 | Lethal Legacy

What is Thursday 3? It's a new once monthly meme, hosted by Book Obsessed, in which we will be discussing our love/hate relationship with our current read.
Take your current read or a book you've finished recently and tell the character from the book you LOVE, the character from the book you HATE, and  your overall LOVE/HATE of the book. Anyone can participate!! Just link your posts in the linky on Book Obsessed's post!

I started Lethal Legacy by Irene Hannon last night and could hardly put it down to go to sleep. That's my kind of book!

LOVE - I love Kelly! She's such an interesting person - someone I feel like I could be friends with. I just feel so sorry that she's all alone in the world!

HATE - I'm not sure if I *hate* a character yet. The bad guy's been introduced in a roundabout way, so of course I don't like him.

LOVE / HATE - I love Irene Hannon so much! She writes the best romantic suspense, and this is no exception! And now, I'm going to stop blogging and get back to reading!

Thursday 3 | Cottage by the Sea by Robin Jones Gunn

What is Thursday 3? It's a new once monthly meme, hosted by Book Obsessed, in which we will be discussing our love/hate relationship with our current read.

Here is how Thursday 3 works:
Take your current read, or book you previously finished, and tell the following 3 things about it.
  1. Character from the book you LOVE (This can be a character you want as your BFF or someone you want to take home to meet the parents)
  2. Character from the book you HATE (This character does not have to be the villian, just someone you disliked)
  3. Your overall LOVE/HATE of the book. (If you haven't decided your feelings for the book yet, or if you prefer, just provide a snippet from the book containing either the word "LOVE" or "HATE")
Anyone can participate!! Just link your posts in the linky on Book Obsessed's post!

It's easy to say that I "love" the main character or "hate" the main antagonist, but each month when I post for Thursday 3, I try to find a less obvious person to "love" or "hate." Today I'm featuring Cottage by the Sea by Robin Jones Gunn. I finished it earlier this week and will be posting a review soon.

LOVE - Erin's husband Mike was easy to love. He truly was Erin's hero, and it was nice to see a Godly man portrayed in this character.

HATE - Sharlene, Erin's best friend, was a little disappointing and annoying. I was so put off by some of her choices and responses to Erin's problems. (Hate is definitely too strong of a word here.)

LOVE / HATE - Love! (Of course!) I'm a huge fan of Robin Jones Gunn. This book is a favorite for sure. :)

I feel like I've mentioned Glamorous Illusions by Lisa Tawn Bergren in just about every post or tweet this week, but it was good, so I'll keep on going with it!

LOVE - There are so many options here, but I don't want to give anything away . . . so I'll go with the "easy" answer and say Cora. She's super sassy, which I love, and totally held her own despite terrible circumstances.

HATE - Hugh was downright creepy at times. He had his good moments, but nine times out of town he was just . . . icky.

LOVE / HATE - Yep. You guessed it—LOVE! The books in this series are NOT stand-alone. I don't know how I'm going to wait until next spring (!!!) to read the next one!

(By the way, if you haven't heard, Glamorous Illusions is free for Nook, Kindle, etc. This week only—June 4-8!)

I just finished Wish You Were Here by Beth K. Vogt this morning and I'm itching to talk about it with someone, so I'll feature it in today's Thursday 3!

LOVE - Daniel. He was by far the most interesting character to me. He was so sweet and genuine but was also trying to be a good guy. Not an easy task when you're in love with your brother's fiance!

HATE -Seth was so annoying! It was bad enough when he wouldn't listen to anything Allison said, but he just kept getting on my nerves! At first, I felt sorry for him, but I totally changed my mind!

LOVE / HATE - Love, love, love! Trying to figure out how to write my review without gushing, but let me just say I finished it in about 24 hours!

Thursday 3: A Texan's Promise

What is Thursday 3? It's a new once monthly meme, hosted by Book Obsessed, in which we will be discussing our love/hate relationship with our current read.

Today's Thursday 3 is A Texan's Promise by Shelley Gray.

LOVE - I loved Clayton Proffitt. He was so dreamy and sparks flew between Vanessa and Clayton from the very beginning. He was also so protective and always had Vanessa's best interests in heart. Throw in the fact that he's a good, old-fashioned cowboy . . . what's NOT to love?!

HATE - Well, I think "hate" might be a bit strong, but I couldn't stand Vanessa's brother. What kind of brother just stands outside the door while his sister is screaming for help and getting beat up? What a jerk! His excuse about being afraid just flew all over me!

LOVE / HATE - I absolutely loved A Texan's Promise. It was a quick read for me, and I wasn't ready for it to be over when I reached the last page. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series when it comes out this spring!

Thursday 3: Sweeter than Birdsong

I just finished reading Sweeter than Birdsong by Rosslyn Elliott (review to come), so here's a little glimpse into my initial thoughts.

LOVE - I loved Ben Hanby. He was a true gentleman, kept Kate's reputation and well-being in mind, was willing to do hard things for the sake of doing what's right, showed humility to Kate's family, and loved the Lord.

HATE - Ahhh! Kate's mom drove me nuts! I wanted to grab her and shake her and tell her to just sit down and talk to her daughter. She was the biggest problem in Kate's life but it seemed that everything else got the blame.

LOVE / HATE - Definitely overall LOVED this book! (To be totally honest I probably won't feature any books I "hate" here.) It made me think and was hard to put down.
