I've been feeling for a while that I want to do something ... more ... with my little space here on the interwebs. As much as I enjoy talking about books, that's really only one part of my life. There are other things that I'm even more passionate about and perhaps it's time I started talking about them. You know doing something more than blogging for books ... perhaps blogging for change. Today I'm excited to share one of those things with you!
Three years ago, Kristen Welch (We are THAT family) and her family took a leap of faith and founded Mercy House, a maternity home in Kenya. As Kristen wrote on her blog yesterday, "Mercy House opened it’s doors to be a haven for pregnant girls to become
mothers, to fall in love with their unplanned babies. It’s a home of
second chances, an environment for orphaned girls to connect, for
lifelong friendships to establish."
For the next four months, I am partnering with (in)courage and over 100 other bloggers to spread the word about an initiative called (in)Mercy. Through this fundraising initiative, our goal is to raise $74,000 for Mercy House Kenya ... before Christmas!
There are five phases, and each phase will focus on meeting a specific need that the women and children at Mercy House have. You can read more details about each phase by clicking the links below.
So what can YOU do?
- Pray: Ask God to show you how you can be involved with the ministry of Mercy House Kenya.
- Give: Would you be willing to contribute financially to meet one of these needs? (The links above will allow you to give to a specific project.)
- Share: Will you please share about (in)Mercy on your social media platforms? A link to this post or to the (in)Mercy site would be much appreciated as we try to spread the word.
Four months. Five projects. $74,000. Just in time for Christmas.
Let's do this!
