Here is how Thursday 3 works:
Take your current read, or book you previously finished, and tell the following 3 things about it.
- Character from the book you LOVE (This can be a character you want as your BFF or someone you want to take home to meet the parents)
- Character from the book you HATE (This character does not have to be the villian, just someone you disliked)
- Your overall LOVE/HATE of the book. (If you haven't decided your feelings for the book yet, or if you prefer, just provide a snippet from the book containing either the word "LOVE" or "HATE")
I just finished reading Sweeter than Birdsong by Rosslyn Elliott (review to come), so here's a little glimpse into my initial thoughts.
LOVE - I loved Ben Hanby. He was a true gentleman, kept Kate's reputation and well-being in mind, was willing to do hard things for the sake of doing what's right, showed humility to Kate's family, and loved the Lord.
HATE - Ahhh! Kate's mom drove me nuts! I wanted to grab her and shake her and tell her to just sit down and talk to her daughter. She was the biggest problem in Kate's life but it seemed that everything else got the blame.
LOVE / HATE - Definitely overall LOVED this book! (To be totally honest I probably won't feature any books I "hate" here.) It made me think and was hard to put down.
I'm at the very end of this book right now.
ReplyDeleteLove--I think I absolutely love Cornelia. She's so friendly and helpful to Kate. She has a personality that is the one I would love to have--the kind of person is welcomes people.
Hate--Mr.Jones. I don't like he specifically is for slaves. That alone, plus the fact that he wants to warn people about the Mr. Hanby, is just plain rude.
Overall: I love this book for the same reasons you mentioned. Made me think, and couldn't put it down.
Holly - So glad you're reading this one too! Totally agree with your Love/Hates too!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this author, but you make the book sound great! I'm glad you participated! Happy reading:)
