With all of the looking back at 2011, I thought I'd also throw in a post looking ahead to 2012. There are SO many great books that are slated for publication this year, and I thought I'd give you my top 10 list so you can be just as excited as I am about these books!
Listed in no particular order, I give you my Top 10 Most Anticipated Books of 2012!
Trauma Plan
by Candace Calvert
Available May 1, 2012
Oh, I loved reading Candace Calvert last year! I'm looking forward to a new series!
Sidelined by injuries
from a vicious assault, chaplain Riley Hale is determined to return to
her former duties as an ER nurse. But how can she show she’s competent
when the hospital won’t let her attempt even simple tasks? Determined to
prove herself, Riley volunteers at a controversial urban free clinic
despite her fears about the maverick doctor in charge.
Dr. Jack
Travis defends his clinic like he’s commander of the Alamo. He’ll fight
the community’s efforts to shut its doors, even if he must use Riley
Hale’s influential family name to make it happen.
As Riley
strives to regain her skills, Jack finds that she shares his
compassion—and stirs his lonely heart. Riley senses that beneath Jack’s
rough exterior is a man she can believe in. But when clinic protests
escalate and questions surface about his past, Jack goes into battle
mode and Riley wonders if it’s dangerous to trust him with her heart.
Paris in the Rain
by Kristin Billerbeck
Available June 5, 2012
Kristin Billerbeck's Ashley Stockingdale series was my first foray into "chick lit" and I have been loyal every since. Can't wait to read this one!
When Daphne's fiancĂ© calls off their wedding, her senses leave her—well, one of them does.
Daphne Sweeten, a professional “nose,”
has given up her dream job creating fragrances in Paris. She sees it as
a sacrifice worthy of the most romantic stories ever told . . . but
it's a sacrifice lost on her fiancé, who decides to bail on their
wedding.
Now, gone is Daphne's dream job as a
perfumer, and most importantly, her money-making sense of smell. Instead
she has a formulation job in middle America, a ramshackle house in dire
need of roof repair, and an intriguing boss, the handsome Jesse
Lightner.
As Daphne navigates the upheaval that is
her life, she determines to stop trying to avoid the rain life brings
and to dance in its showers instead.
Beyond Hope's Valley
by Tricia Goyer
Available April 1, 2012
Finally! The conclusion to this incredible series! Honestly, the first Amish fiction I have ever been truly excited about (and a great incentive to try other in the genre).
After an extended stay
in Montana, where Amish traditions are different than in her home state,
Marianna Sommer returns to Indiana for two reasons, first to help her
brother and his girlfriend prepare for a baby and their wedding. Second,
to plan her own wedding to Aaron Zook -- a marriage she’s been dreaming
about ever since childhood. And yet, although she had missed the
idyllic farms and families of her upbringing, Marianna is surprised that
Indiana is somehow making her long now for Montana.
As months
pass, secrets that were hidden in winter’s frozen grasp thaw and take on
a life of their own. The truths about a child, about a past
relationship, and about God’s plans are being revealed. Walking through a
valley of questions, Marianna must hold on to hope as she decides where
and with whom her heart truly belongs.

Lethal Legacy
by Irene Hannon
Available August 1, 2012
Irene Hannon is another incredible author I discovered last year. (I read 5 of her books in 2011!) I can't get enough!
The police say her
father's death was suicide. But Kelly Warren says it was murder--and she
has new evidence that she believes proves it. Detective Cole Taylor
doesn't put much credence in her claim, and nothing in his case review
suggests foul play. But when Kelly ends up in the emergency room with a
suspicious life-threatening medical condition, the incident strikes him
as more than just coincidence. Digging deeper, he discovers she's linked
to a long-ago crime. Is history repeating itself? And who wants Kelly
silenced?
With her trademark high-intensity action and taut
suspense, Irene Hannon closes out her Guardians of Justice series with a
story of old grudges and budding romance that is sure to increase her
substantial fan base.
Coming Home
by Karen Kingsbury
Available July 1, 2012
I'm not sure if this is the most anticipated or most dreaded book of 2012. I've been reading about the Baxter family for YEARS and am not sure I'm ready to say good-bye to them yet. Alas, all good things must come to an end.
Coming Home is a novel
about tremendous victory and unprecedented loss, a story of faith and a
forever kind of love, love that will stay with you long after the last
page. This stand-alone novel will serve as either a grand introduction
or a beautiful conclusion in the saga of the Baxter Family. The Baxters
make plans to come together for a summer lakeside reunion, a celebration
like they haven't had in years. But before the big day, the unthinkable
happens. As the Baxter Family rallies together, memories come to light
in the grief-stricken hours of waiting and praying, memories that bring
healing and hope during a time when otherwise darkness might have the
final word.In a season that changes all of them, the brilliance of
family love overshadows even the valley of heartache as the Baxters draw
closer to God and each other. Along the way, secrets are revealed and
the truth about the Baxter Family history is finally made known.
Ultimately, in this portrait of family love, the Baxters cling to each
other and to God's promise of forever.
Sweeter than Birdsong
by Rosslyn Elliott
Available February 7, 2012
I had the unbelievable pleasure of reading Rosslyn Elliott's debut novel last year. I loved every second spent reading it and can't wait to read her second novel!
Ben's talent and Kate's sweet voice make them the perfect match-but Kate's mother is determined to keep them apart.
In
1854, the winds of change blow through Ohio, where free state borders
slave state. By day, Ben Hanby is a talented musician who directs
musicals for his Westerville college. By night, he secretly aids
fugitives on the Underground Railroad.
When Ben casts lovely Kate
Winter to sing in his latest show, they find they share a love for
music and ideas. But Kate's mother wants her daughter to marry a rich
man. Ben has given his life to God, not to the pursuit of wealth.
Kate
Winter will be the first female graduate of Otterbein College, and
every young man in town courts her. But Kate's dark family secrets leave
her unspeakably shy. When Kate joins the Hanbys in their dangerous work
on the Underground Railroad, she finds her courage and her voice. Can
Ben and Kate find a way to be together in spite of the obstacle of
Kate's family?
The Chase
by DiAnn Mills
Available March 27, 2012
DiAnn Mills was another new-to-me author in 2011. Incredible romantic suspense! Can't wait to read more!
To the FBI it's a cold
case. To Kariss Walker it's a hot idea that could either reshape or ruin
her writing career. And it's a burning mission to revisit an event she
can never forget. Five years ago, an unidentified little girl was
found starved to death in the woods behind a Houston apartment complex. A
TV news anchor at the time, Kariss reported on the terrifying case.
Today, as a New York Times bestselling author, Kariss intends to turn
the unsolved mystery into a suspense novel. Enlisting the help of FBI
Special Agent Tigo Harris, Kariss succeeds in getting the case reopened.
But the search for the dead girl's missing mother yields a discovery
that plunges the partners into a witch's brew of danger. The old crime
lives on in more ways than either of them could ever imagine. Will
Kariss's pursuit of her dream as a writer carry a deadly price tag?
Drawing from a real-life cold case, bestselling novelist DiAnn Mills
presents a taut collage of suspense, faith, and romance in The Chase.
The Rose of Winslow Street
by Elizabeth Camden
Available January 1, 2012
Elizabeth Camden wrote one of my favorite books of 2011. I am so looking forward to reading more!
The last thing Libby
Sawyer and her father expected upon their return from their summer home
was to find strangers inhabiting a house that had been in their family
for twenty years. Widower Michael Dobrescu brought his family from
Romania to the town of Colden, Massachusetts, with a singular purpose:
to claim the house willed to his father. Since neither party has any
intention of giving up their claim, a fierce legal battle ensues between
the two families.
When Libby’s father’s most important and sensitive documents go
missing, Michael and his family are the likely culprits. Determined to
discover the truth behind the stolen papers, Libby investigates, only to
find herself unconvinced that Michael’s to blame and at risk of
developing feelings for this man with the mysterious past.
When it seems the papers have indeed made it into the wrong hands
and a decision about the house is pending in the courts, Libby must
weigh the risks of choosing a side and giving her heart to a man whose
intentions and affections are less than certain.
Travelers Rest
by Ann Tatlock
Available May 1, 2012
Ann Tatlock writes some of the most gripping books I've read. The plot summary for this book has absolutely captured me.
Jane Morrow has a dilemma. She's engaged to Seth Ballantine, a member of the National Guard's 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, and he's returned from Iraq severely wounded. Jane hasn't seen him for nearly a year, and with trepidation, she heads to the VA hospital in Asheville, North Carolina,
where he is being treated.
Seth isn't happy to see her. He'd asked her not to come. He wants to end the relationship. But Jane loves him, and despite his injury, she's determined to convince him that they can have a life together. Her faith has never been strong, yet she hopes God will answer her prayers and tell her what to do.
Beautifully written, Travelers Rest takes readers on a journey through pain and tragedy to a place of hope and redemption.
Just think . . . these are authors that I'm already familiar with. I
can't wait to see what new (or new-to-me) authors will pop up this year!
OH . . . I just realized an oversight to my list! Laura Frantz! I can't figure out if she's working on a new book for 2012, but rest assured, if she publishes ANYTHING this year, I will be first in line to buy it!!!
OH . . . and Denise Hildreth Jones! Ladies, let us know what's going on with you! We're anxious for more!
What books are you most looking forward to reading this year?
