I was working on my memory verse the other day (1 Peter 4:8, you know) and really thought about what the verse says and what it means in my life.
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8
1 Peter 4:8
Of course, initially, it seemed like a good verse because it's talking about love. And it's February ... the month of love. Perfect timing, right?
And I liked the wording here ... deeply. What a great description of how we are to love each other.
As I meditated on it, though, I thought about what this prompts me to do. It prompts me to forgive. Why? Because if I deeply love someone, then I need to let that love completely cover every hurt and wrong and disappointment in our relationship.
Which then lead me to think about how much the Lord loves me. How deep must His love be for me?! His love covers over a multitude of sins ... my sins. And He covered over my sins by sacrificing His own Son. Yep. I think that fits the definition of loving deeply. Don't you?
