A few weeks ago I posted about the upcoming Secret Church. I wanted to share a couple of updates with you.

There's been a change in topic! The six-hour study of Scripture will focus on "Marriage, Family, Sex, and the Gospel."

Manhood. Womanhood. Marriage. Parenting. Singleness. Sex. Divorce. Homosexuality. Same-sex marriage. Polygamy. Pornography. Adoption. Abortion. Cultures around the world perceive each of these issues differently. So how does God's Word address them? During Secret Church we will explore how the gospel uniquely affects our understanding of family, marriage, sex, and a host of related (and controversial) issues that are ultimately foundational for the display of the glory of God in our lives, in the church, and in the world.

Tickets for the event at The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, AL are $5 each and will go on sale August 15 at 9:00am CST. Tickets can only be purchased online.

If you can't make it to the live event, Secret Church will also be simulcast through a partnership with LifeWay Christian Resources. So you can watch it wherever you are in the world! Simulcast registration will begin online on September 1.

Secret Church

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., 6/22/2011 - Disciple-Making International (DMI) is pleased to announce that the next Secret Church gathering will take place on Friday, November 4, 2011, and will once again be simulcast in partnership with LifeWay Christian Resources.

In April, DMI in conjunction with LifeWay, enabled 50,000 people to participate in Secret Church by offering a simulcast link-in. The simulcast enabled 1,300 churches and small groups to participate with the 3,000 participants that were gathered on-site at The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, Ala., and heard  David Platt teach on “Crucifixion, Salvation and the Glory of God.”

Secret Church began four years ago with two main purposes in mind: to worship through intensive study of the Word and to identify with and pray for persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. Over the years Secret Church has grown in its popularity as participants are drawn to its simplicity and the profound study of the Word.  Out of necessity, Brook Hills began selling tickets at a minimal cost in order to help reserve seating. (The ticket price also covers the 100+ page study guide that is provided at each gathering.)

Over the last several years tickets for Secret Church have sold out in a matter of minutes. In an effort to open up Secret Church to more participants, DMI decided to try a simulcast to enable churches and small groups to participate. With the help of LifeWay, the first simulcast on Good Friday was a huge success.

The topic of the November Secret Church gathering will be “Heaven, Hell and the End of the World.” Tickets for attendance at the Brook Hills campus will go on sale in August and simulcast registration will begin in September.
