Countdown to Christmas | Interview & Giveaway w/ Jennifer AlLee

It's time for another stop on the Countdown to Christmas {Book} Party! This afternoon, Jennifer AlLee has stopped by to chat about Christmas, share about her book, A Wild Goose Chase Christmas, and give away a prize pack!

(You can find other stops along the way—and lots of giveaways—here. Later today, I'm sharing some great gifts that help others. And tomorrow, we'll be chatting with Ann Gabhart and Mia Ross!)

i blog 4 books: Welcome to i blog 4 books, Jennifer! What is your most memorable Christmas and why?

Jennifer AlLee: It was the year when I was an angel in the school Christmas pageant. I was about five years old, and I was so proud of my shiny gold halo.

ib4b: Name three words that you associate with Christmas.

JA: Jesus, family, gifts (yes, I love gift-giving)

ib4b: How will your family celebrate Christmas this year?

JA: Christmas at my house is usually pretty low-key. We’ll stay at home, open presents, and probably watch “Elf” which has become a holiday tradition for us.

ib4b: We love the movie "Elf" too! And I like the sound of low-key! What is the best gift you’ve ever given?

JA: That’s a hard question. I always try to think what would be special to person receiving the gift, so hopefully, I’ve given a lot of good gifts over the years!

ib4b: Haha! A gift that you KNOW someone will love is definitely a good gift!
Who gave you the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received? What was it?

JA: When I was two, my mom gave me a Chihuahua puppy. I named her Tinkerbell, and she instantly became my best friend.

ib4b: Tell me about the Christmas tradition that means the most to you.

JA: When I was little, my mom knit a Christmas stocking for me. She made one for my son, too, who is now twenty. But we put those stockings up every year.

ib4b: How do you keep your focus on Christ during this hectic but wondrous time of year?

JA: The same way I do every other day of the year. I’m a big fan of talking to God. I guess you could call it prayer, but it’s kind of an ongoing, free-form type thing. I thank him for a parking space, ask him for help with work, whatever’s on my mind is fair game.

This or That ...
  • White or colorful lights? Colorful
  • Turkey or ham? Confession: unless I get invited to someone’s house, I don’t make a special meal at Christmastime. There’s a very good chance I may eat frozen pizza that day!
  • Tree - real or fake?  For years, we had a fake tree, in order to save money. But this year, I am most definitely getting a real one. I love the way it infuses the house with the smell of pine.
  • Hot cocoa or apple cider? Hot cocoa, with marshmallows, if possible.
  • Frosty or Rudolph? Rudolph, because I’m not a big fan of the cold, and the only way you can hang out with Frosty is to be outside and freezing.
  • Wrapping paper or gift bag? Gift bag! They are so easy, and they can be reused, which is a win-win in my book.
About A Wild Goose Chase Christmas
Upon her grandmother's death, Izzy Fontaine finds herself in possession of a Wild Goose Chase pattern quilt that supposedly leads to a great treasure.

Of course, once the rest of the family finds out about the "treasure map," they're determined to have a go at the treasure themselves. And, if that weren't enough, Max Logan, a local museum curator, contacts Izzy and says that Grandma Isabella promised him the quilt.

What is it about this quilt that makes everyone want it? Is Izzy on a wild goose chase of her own, or a journey that will lead her to the treasure her grandmother intended?

About Jennifer AlLee
As I look back on my life, it's interesting to see where God's taken me, and where I took myself that God pulled me out of. I finally got back to writing, the dream of my heart. Since 1996, I've published numerous short stories, devotions and plays. I've also been active in church drama ministries, another passion of mine. My first novel, The Love of His Brother (November 2007, Five Star Publishers), was followed by The Pastor's Wife (February 2010, Abingdon Press). Two more books are scheduled from Abingdon, The Mother Road (April 2012) and A Wild Goose Chase Christmas (November 2012), book two in the new Quilts of Love series.

Besides being a writer, I am a wife and mom. Living in Las Vegas, Nevada, my family has learned how to enjoy the fabulous buffets here without severely impacting our waistlines. God is good!

  6. I would love to win Wildgoose Christmas: a Quilts of Love novel. I have started reading this series and love to see new books in the series. Jennifer AlLee is a great author. I've enjoy The Pastor's Wife and the one she wrote about a mother and daughter on route 66-can't think of the title, but really enjoyed it. sharon, CA wileygreen1(at)yahoo(dot)com
